.....or Tator Tot Hot Dish for all my Minnesota friends!
I was looking for new recipes on the Internet and came across this recipe. I know it has been around a while but have never made it. Honestly, it is way over our fat and calorie limits, but I thought it was time for a change from grilled fish, baked chicken and steamed veggies. My boys inhaled it. You could easily make this a bit healthier by using lean hamburger and low fat/fat free ingredients.
Tator Tot Casserole
1 32 oz. bag frozen Tator Tots
1 pound ground beef
1 can cream of chicken soup
16 oz sour cream
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
1/4 cup chopped onion
Garlic salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Brown hamburger and onions. Add garlic salt and pepper to taste. Drain meat. In a large bowl, mix hamburger, cream of chicken soup, sour cream and 1 cup of cheddar cheese. Add 1/2 bag of tator tots to mixture. Place in a sprayed 9x13 plan. Top with remaining bag of tator tots. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Top with remaining 1 cup of cheese and bake an additional 15 minutes.
This dish could be easily adjusted to cook in your crock pot and is a great pot luck dish.
Enjoy!
