Little Red Scrapbook BLOG HOP

Photobucket

Welcome to Little Red Scrapbook's "Out with the Old, In with the New" Blog Hop!  With the start of the new year we all like to set goals and think of new ways to get organized.  With this in mind our talented Design Team has come up with some fun challenges that may help you get started.

Read below to find out all of the ways you can win:

STEP 1:  First you will need to leave a comment on the LRS blog and tell us what goal or organization idea you have for the New Year.  This will not only inspire all of us with your goal or idea, but it will also get your name entered into a random drawing for a chance to win the blue colored inspired “hodgepodge” prize. Pretty easy so far right!

STEP 2: Second you will need to visit all FOUR design team member blogs and leave a comment on EACH blog.  This is important so we know you have been to all of the blogs.  If you have left a comment on each of the blogs your name will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win the orange colored inspired “hodgepodge” prize.  Another easy peasy way to win!

STEP 3: Once you’ve done that, you will need to check out our Facebook page, and LIKE us. This will put your name in another random drawing for a chance to win the green color inspired “hodgepodge” prize.

STEP 4: For a chance to win the Love LRS Grand Prize head on over to our message board and say hello, then upload your project and/or layout for any of the design team challenges posted on their blogs to the “2012 Out with the Old, In with the New” gallery. The Blog Hop challenges will run from January 27th until midnight January 30th. You can enter as many times as you like. You do not need to be a subscriber to participate. The more entries, the more chances you have to win!

Then on February 1st, be sure to check out our Facebook page, or visit the LRS community or the LRS blog to see if you are one of the lucky winners!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello!  Thanks for taking the time to visit my stop on the Little Red Scrapbook Blog Hop!  In celebration of a new year, my challenge this month is to create a layout featuring something you would like to accomplish in 2012.  This can be a goal, resolution, something from your bucket list, etc.
My goal this year (as has been my goal for the past 13 years, Oy!) has been to learn to play the guitar.  Robert bought me a guitar when Kemper was a baby and I have always wanted to learn to play more than just a few self taught chords.  Maybe this year will be my year!!  Here is a layout I created using the January Little Red Scrapbook kit featuring Lily Bee's Memorandum/Head Over Heels line.  This kit is so versatile and I just love the look of the delicate Lily Bee patterns.
Here is my layout:
Journaling reads:  Someday I'll play you.  Someday I'll teach Kemper to play.  Someday we'll make beautiful music together.  Someday.....
I can't wait to see what you do with the challenge!
Memphis Monday
Yeah, yeah I know.....technically it's Tuesday but I'm in denial.
I love Memphis is so photogenic and will allow me to take photos of him.  Actually, when we first brought him home I think he was a little frightened of me because I always had this strange black gizmo thing pointed at him and it made funny noises. Memphis has gotten used to the camera and will usually sit nicely for photos.  Which is more than I can say about my two boys......who run at the site of the camera.....and demand cold hard cash.  Oy!
Memphis Monday
Memphis is adjusting well to his new surroundings.  Honestly, it's as if he has been with us forever.  He is so calm and quiet for a big dog.  He used to not bark at the doorbell, but now he realizes when the bell rings there is a person on the other side. (Pizza guy is soooooo not amused at the new dog.  LOL)   We took him to the vet this week for a microchip implantation.  Memphis is used to running on 9 acres at Joy and Jerry's so I was afraid if he ever got out of the gate he would run like a crazy dog and get lost.   I was also very curious to see how much this big boy weighed......92 lbs!!!  Holy smokes!  This beast is only 9 months old and already weighs 92 lbs!  I don't think he will get much bigger in height, maybe another 3-5", but he will probably start filling out and add about 30lbs.  It is really hard to say without seeing his parents.
Here is Memphis "not" laying on the window seat.  Because he has a paw on the floor he is technically NOT on the seat, right??
Again, technically NOT on the furniture.  Such a goof!
Memphis Monday
We met Joy in Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon to pick up Memphis.  I was so pleased he remembered us and came right up to the boys and greeted them.  He made the trip back to Columbus easily and we didn't hear a peep out of him the entire trip.  He made his way around the house and checked out every nook and cranny.  That night he slept on the doggie bed next to Kemper's bed.
The next morning he met several of the neighbors and their pets.  Memphis got along really well with the boxer next door and they ran circles around the yard until they collapsed, exhausted.  I'm so glad he found a friend with whom to romp.
In the afternoon, we took Memphis to our local dog park.  He had such a great time romping will newly found friends.  A couple of the dogs (and some people) were a little intimidated by him.  There were several dog scuffles (there always HAS to be a bully on the play ground, right?) and Memphis stayed clear of them and didn't get involved.  I was so proud of him!
I think what impresses me the most about Memphis is how quiet he is for such a big dog.  It's almost as if he tip toes around the house.  He doesn't bark or charge the door when the bell rings.  I just love that!!!
Here is our handsome fellow.  Just look at the size of those paws!
The Start of a New Year/Memphis Monday
Happy New Year!  I'm thrilled to kick off 2012.  Our family has many exciting changes planned for this year and all will be revealed in due time, however, our first new exciting change will come on Saturday!  We have finally found a new addition to our family.  After being dog free for the past year and a half we have found a new baby.  I use the term "baby" loosely since Memphis is an 8 month old Great Dane.
Here is Memphis when we first met him.  He was sooooo timid and shy.  He would peek his head around the corner and look at us then duck back in the room.
After some coaxing and a handful of homemade doggie treats, Memphis decided we were OK and he would let us love on him.   That is Max between Kemper and Griffin.  I think he was feeling a little left out since Memphis was getting all the attention now.
We took him outside to run on Joy and Jerry's fabulous nine acres.  What gorgeous property they have!  Memphis loved running and playing fetch with the boys and you can see the instant bond he had with them.  Just look how he leans into Robert and Kemper, so trusting!
We are adopting Memphis from Joy and Jerry Lobato in Kansas City.  They are friends of my parents and have raised danes for over 30 years.  Here is their website.  Their accomplishments are amazing.  What impressed me the most is that these dogs are not just a hobby for them but their family.  They have a great amount of love for each and every dog (10 total!) in their home.  Also, Jerry is an accomplished artist and sculptor.  He has been commissioned to create some wonderful pieces.  You can see his website and amazing artwork here
We are thrilled to welcome Memphis into our family and I'm sure you will be seeing a lot of him on my blog and in my scrapbooking.
